Well, I can't give you any technical tips for lag, but there are some little tricks you can do when the framerate starts stuttering, so you don't have to alt-f4 out of the game and relog (though it's always an option).

First, if you start noticing that lag's coming on, stop all combat and get to a safe lonely place, preferably with no other people and mobs wandering around- basically, with as little moving parts in the environment as possible (if you have a pet, put him away). Sit down and wait for 2-3 minutes for the comp to catch up. That usually works for me.

It also works if you point your camera downward. Really helps the framerate. Not sure why though.
